ALL ABOUT MK4 SUPRA

When it comes to jdm we must talk about supra MK4.

It is one of the most sold Japanese cars till now. Here are some reasons that MK4 is a legend.

ENGINE

when we talk about cars the first thing that comes to our mind is the engine.

the mk4 Offered in both naturally aspirated or twin-turbo forms, the engine has become something of a legend.

The 3-liter straight-six has 4 valves per cylinder, features sequential electronic fuel injection, an aluminum head, and a cast-iron block.

First it was introduced with six-cylinder engine in Celica supra then it was upgraded to 145bhp and 2.8 liter in 1986. As the production increased the 4th gen supra came up with 220bhp, 3.0 liter with inline-six and optional 320 bhp turbo engine.

PERFORMANCE

Both engine choices ensured that the Supra was no slouch at the lights. The naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE unit produced a healthy 220HP/210 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to accelerate to 60 MPH in 6.5 seconds as a manual and 7.3 seconds as an automatic.

The legendary twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE produced 276 HP with 318 lb-ft for Japanese markets, but thanks to upgraded turbos and bigger fuel injectors, the American models were blessed with 321 HP/315 lb-ft torque, whilst European models made 326 HP/325 lb-ft torque. This additional power enabled the manual export cars to hit 60 MPH in 4.5 seconds and 180MPH.

MODIFICATION

When it comes to modification supra mk4 is the king.

Try getting hold of a stock MK4 Supra. You will either find one that would eventually sell for a whopping $120,000+ or end the search in vain! Stock Supras are that rare since, after people understood the 2JZ's magical potential to take on anything, an average MK4 Supra on the road right now makes about 700 hp, and that is very much normal!

ORIGIN

Toyota originally allocated the Supra suffix in 1979 to its then domestically named Celica XX Coupe to create the Celica Supra coupe. Designated A40, the original Celica’s four-cylinder engine was replaced with a six-cylinder power plant along with a longer, wider body, and in doing so Toyota created a legend.

Over the years, the Supra would continue to evolve, getting faster and more advanced until what most believed was its demise in 2002. It wasn’t until 2019, and thanks to a collaboration with BMW, that the Supra name would once again grace the flanks of a performance car. The release of the 2021 Supra GR 3.0 has seen interest grow once again in the marque.

Yet it is the fourth iteration that has become the stuff of legend, the car that true enthusiasts long to own. So here are 10 Things You Should Know Before Buying a Mk4 Toyota Supra
